I had some excitement recently... Archer was barking at a rabbit in the back yard, which isn't that strange. He's obsessed with rabbits—the fact that they run around the neighborhood without his permission makes him LIVID.
I waited until Bunny went to the large hole under our fence that leads to the preserve behind the house and then let him out so he could feel like he did something useful.
But Bunny did NOT go down the hole.
Instead, it freaked out when Archer came close and threw itself into the pool. There's poor Bunny swimming back and forth with Archer, watching over it like the world's worst lifeguard. I run to get the net, scoop out Bunny, and put it RIGHT NEXT TO THE EXIT HOLE. I can't hold the dog AND save Bunny. I can't fling it over the fence like a lacrosse ball. This was the best idea.
Bunny, whose poor head is spinning, decides he'd rather run toward the Kill Box - a section of the yard where Archer tries to trap lizards, etc. because there's a little fence and no escape hole.
NOOOO!
I go running after him again with my long net in hand and drag him away from poor Bunny, who has squeezed himself between the fence and the netting that is there to keep rabbits OUT. Archer has his face pressed against Bunny, getting a good whiff of him for the memory banks.
Finally, I drag all 90lbs of him away, and Bunny runs off to the hole—finally—unharmed.
The back yard camera caught it all! I can tell you I felt like I was moving a lot faster than it looks! 😂
